Our care package has arrived in China!!

We mailed a care package to Delaney on Friday, April 11th and we received an e-mail saying it was delivered today the 21st.  It arrived on the 16th but had to clear customs.  We were told it would be delivered to her this week. We could have sent a pre-made package from our agency or from any number of companies that do this for adoptive families. However; we chose to mail our own package to Ann of Red Thread and she is to forward it on to the child welfare institute.  We will likely only send one package before we travel so we wanted to make it personal.  I cant imagine how odd it would be to get a gift from someone half way around the world that you've never met. Remember, she doesn't know she has a mama and baba waiting for her but is soon to see our faces in the photo album we sent.  Here's what we included . . . .

a blanket (our church prayed over), an outfit/socks (a fish wouldn't have been my first choice but so many were inappropriate for what we were doing; like the ones saying "Mommy's Angel" or "Daddy's princess") We just felt that was a little pushy since she's not officially ours yet and we didn't know how China would view that.  We sent a disposable camera so they could take pics of her daily activities, a lovey doll and a small chocolate scented plush rabbit. I drove home from the storr with the rabbit tucked next to my heart under my seatbelt after I had prayed over it and Daddy breathed a special "breath of life and well wishes" onto the lovey doll.   We also included a photo album with about 8 photos of us and our dog, Penny.  We labeled all of the photos with Chinese calligraphy indicating "these are your parents, this is your mama, this is your baba, this is your dog"  Sure hope I don't mix them up!
Cover of the photo album so the Nannies will know who it belongs to at a glance.
